
Originally built in 1879 as the English, Scottish and Australian Bank and residence, the building was purchased by members of the Riverton R.S.L. Branch in 1959 as club rooms. It is now owned by the Clare & Gilbert Valleys Council. In 1997 the building underwent total restoration including the façade and was divided into office suites, meeting room and History Centre with public toilets and other necessary amenities added.
The Clare & Gilbert Valleys Council sponsored History Centre is operated by 11 local volunteers, and our excellent and highly respected researching team provides local history, family research and information, opening 3 days a week.
Open Wednesday, Thursday & Friday between 10am and 3pm..
Closed over Christmas and New Year
A fee of $10 per hour is charged for use of the numerous resources whilst research undertaken by the Local Historian also attracts a fee of $10 per hour.
